As Thanksgiving approaches, Shutesbury, Massachusetts is abuzz with anticipation for a thrilling new event coming to town. Lace up your running shoes and mark your calendars for the Roadtown Turkey Trot on November 18, 2023. Not only will this race offer an opportunity for fitness enthusiasts to showcase their running skills, but it will also contribute to a noble cause—the Friends of the MN Spear Memorial Library. Runners of all ages and abilities will gather at the heart of Shutesbury for an invigorating 5k road race. Whether you're an avid runner seeking a new challenge or looking for a fun activity to kick start your Thanksgiving celebrations, the Turkey Trot promises to be an event for everyone. The event will showcase sponsors from our community and feature prizes all that pay homage to the traditional Thanksgiving meal. If you're lucky you just might go home with a turkey for the upcoming holiday.

For more than a decade, our community has worked towards building a better library. Our devotion has paid off.

Shutesbury has been awarded the one-and-only Small Library Pilot Program Grant. Voters have approved the Town’s portion of the project. We’ve hired the architects. We’ve begun the design process. We expect to break ground in May 2024.

In a small town like Shutesbury, businesses like yours are the basis for our livelihood. You allow our community to thrive and grow by providing us with the goods and services we need. Now we are looking to you to bolster our library campaign during this time of Thanksgiving.

The Friends of the M.N. Spear Memorial Library are still raising funds to make sure that when our new library opens in Spring 2025, it will be all that Shutesbury needs it to be – the heart of our community
